Owners, Builders, and Tradesmen
Travis Brungardt
Having begun his career in the building trades working on a very small renovation crew back in 2002 Travis was exposed to each of the various building trades as they rarely subcontracted work to others. That exposure led to an affinity for having his hands in every aspect of his projects and eventually, to the Master Electrician and Master Mechanical Contractor licenses he holds today. While he’s always happiest working hands-on in the field, he also handles the majority of communications and scheduling at Catalyst. As an avid student of building science and committed craftsman, he brings multidisciplinary expertise and a holistic view to every build.
Partners
After growing up attending the same church as well as the same high school, Travis and Joe formed a friendship over a common interest in mountain biking. While Travis was self performing various trades at one small remodeling firm, Joe was operating his own painting company before another small renovation firm hired him to handle their fine finishes full time. After establishing themselves individually as successful tradesmen in renovation work, they both found themselves working as Project Managers for what was KC’s second largest custom builder until 2008. They formed Catalyst Construction to build custom homes and renovation projects with quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and sustainability through durability as their goals. They haven’t missed a day of work since.
Joe Cook
After mastering the application of furniture grade finishes and operating a successful paint company of his own, Joe worked with a small renovation firm where he added skills from framing to mechanicals, trim carpentry to tile. After serving the Country Club Plaza and Mission Hills neighborhoods building work featured in Architectural Digest Joe worked as a Project Manager for a local custom builder before leaving to co-found Catalyst. With a broad knowledge of the trades he was easily able to obtain his General Contractors license and then added his Master Plumbing license a year later. He continues to stay sharp in the field while handling the bulk of the estimating and financials.
